Snook caught in the Florida Keys Fishing the back country is another great way to enjoy the Florida Keys. Whether it’s a full day or a half day on the water we’re sure you will find yourself intrigued with the amount of wildlife that surrounds us, not to mention the large variety of fish you can catch. You can do some sight casting or perhaps throw a Fly but either way it’s all great light tackle fishing. If you’re looking for a trophy fish this is your stop. The world record Bonefish has been caught here several times and the Tarpon and Permit can just be downright enormous!
The winter months are mostly spent along the shorelines and the flats surrounding the many Mangrove Islands; a mist the back country. You will find Bonefish and Redfish as well as the residential Tarpon along with a mixed bag of Snappers and Jacks and a great Trout run. As the water begins to warm and the migration begins the waters become alive with many world class fish. The sky is full of birds and the waters swarming with many different critters. Your Guide will point out the gators and manatees as well as the Porpoise.
Lines in! Spring is here and so is the bite. Permit, Cobia, Redfish, Tarpon and all the different types of Mackerel you can handle. Not to forget the great bottom fishing. You can enjoy some time on a wreck where you might encounter the Goliath grouper up to 500 pounds! The bottom action will bring Snappers and Groupers mostly but out back one never knows what else one might find. This type of fishing will last all summer and usually gets better as time moves on until we get back to winter.
Our skiffs are a wonderful way to navigate the shallow waters that surround us. Being able to travel at high speeds allow us to get to the grounds pretty quickly. So whether it’s the Everglades and Flamingo or just the tiny islands or shorelines you will find yourself in a surrounding that will soon become a screen saver!!
