2010-01-10 – Islamorada Weekly Review
COLD, COLD and more COLD is what we have all shared this last week!! Things were rather difficult all week. The mornings were mostly in the low 40’s and took us the better part of two hours to catch. There was very little current most of the week and when we did have a little it was going up into the wind which made things that much harder.

Honestly the only thing biting has been King Mackerels and they have been plentiful. The Sailfish have been tough for us with the lack of current that we have had. The backcountry waters have had signs of tragedy, lots of fish floating and plenty of penned up bait has been very difficult to keep alive with the water temps dropping into the 50’s…CRAZZZY!!!.

The highlight of the week was our trip with George Poveromo and Sue from the Miami Herald. After a very difficult morning trying to catch bait, we found great success with the Kings and even caught a real nice Black fin Tuna!!! Not sure what the week will bring but I do know that warm weather will soon be back!!
