The week has been pretty interesting to say the least. The beginning of the week we found ourselves enjoying some real wonderful weather, light breeze out of the SE and calm seas. We spent most of our time offshore chasing Dolphin with great success.

We have been trolling ballyhoos and a teaser. We try to keep things simple down here since most everything we do is sight fishing….looking for birds and debris. The groups we had were pretty happy with nice catches of some 25lb to 35lb Dolphin along with 30 to 40 schoolies mixed in. One day we caught a nice sail and missed another. We did manage to find a small Blue Marlin about 125lbs on a naked which we caught on 30lb main line and 50lb leader…pretty good battle.

As the week progressed so did the weather, SE wind blowing 20 to 30 and gusty! Now we find ourselves back on the reef edge anchored down in 70’ of water. Well, let me tell you…what a sight to see! Absolutely swarming, the yellowtail are balled up like I have never seen before, must be 15,000 fish on this one little section of the reef. So, needless to say it was game on!

The two groups at the end of the week were able to enjoy CATCHING! As fast as you could get bait in the water you had one on. Real nice fish too ranging from 2lbs to 4lbs. We did manage to find one that went close to 7lbs, lunker! We didn’t find much on the bottom though, just a few Mackerels, no muttons or groupers. Anyhow we are looking forward to another good week of fishing, just hoping the winds let up a little and stay tuned we have several Tortugas trips coming up just before we leave to head up North, standing by.
